Privacy & Cookies

This notice explains how Dellie Studios handles personal information when you browse dellie.org, contact us, leave a comment or use a music player.
Who is responsible
Delano Tjon-A-Njoek, trading as Dellie Studios, is the controller responsible for the processing described here. For questions or privacy requests, email delano.tjon-a-njoek@dellie.org.
Contact and enquiries
The contact form asks for your name and email address so we can identify and answer your enquiry. The message field is optional. You can also email us directly. Please only include information needed for your enquiry and avoid unnecessary sensitive information.
We use this information to handle enquiries about music, projects, collaborations, bookings and playlists. General correspondence is processed on the basis of our legitimate interest in receiving and answering messages addressed to us. If you ask us to take steps towards an agreement with you, or we need to perform that agreement, the basis is taking those steps or performing the agreement. Where we must retain records by law, the basis is that legal obligation.
The form uses Jetpack on WordPress.com. Submissions are stored in WordPress and delivered to our mailbox hosted by Titan. Submission records and emails can include the time, source page, IP address and browser information for delivery, troubleshooting and abuse prevention. Where Akismet spam checking is enabled, Jetpack also sends submission data to that Automattic service. See Jetpack’s form privacy information.
We review enquiries in WordPress and our mailbox monthly and manually delete general enquiries no later than six months after they have been resolved, or sooner when no longer needed. Information needed for an ongoing project, agreement or legal obligation is kept separately for as long as necessary.
The six-month period concerns active enquiry records. Recovery exports are included in our monthly review and are deleted or replaced when no longer needed for recovery. Deleted records may remain temporarily in service-provider backups under the provider’s deletion cycle; we do not use those backup records for new correspondence.
Technical operation and security
WordPress.com and Jetpack, provided by Automattic, host and deliver the site, serve images and other resources, and help prevent abuse. This involves technical information such as IP address, browser and device details, requested resources and access times. We rely on our legitimate interest in operating a working, secure website, limited to what is needed for that purpose.
Automattic also operates its services under its own privacy notices, including technical and performance processing. Connections to WordPress resources are therefore still made when optional music players and statistics are refused. See Automattic’s visitor notice and Jetpack’s Privacy Center. Automattic describes a retention period of approximately 30 days for visitor web-server logs.
Website statistics
We use Jetpack Stats to understand visits and improve the site. Its optional statistics script is blocked until you allow statistics through Privacy settings. You can refuse statistics and still browse the website and send an enquiry. The basis for enabling this optional measurement is your consent.
Jetpack describes processing such as page views, referring pages, outbound links, browser information, approximate country and IP address. If you are logged in to WordPress.com, its user identifier may also be involved. We see reports rather than individual visitors’ IP addresses. Jetpack states that identifiable statistics logs are retained for 28 days. Read Jetpack Stats privacy and retention information.
Music players and external links
Spotify players, and SoundCloud players where present, stay blocked until you allow them. Spotify and SoundCloud can be enabled together through the “External media” setting. You can change or withdraw this choice through “Privacy settings”. Statistics are controlled separately.
Once you allow a player, your browser connects to its provider. That provider can receive your IP address, browser and device details, the referring page and information about your interaction with the player. It may use cookies, browser storage and telemetry for playback, measurement, personalisation or its own purposes. If you are already logged in to that provider, information may be associated with your account.
Our basis for loading these optional players is your consent. Spotify and SoundCloud also determine purposes for processing within their own services. Read Spotify’s Privacy Policy, its Cookies Policy, and SoundCloud’s Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.
Apple Music is offered as an external link. Following links to music or social platforms takes you to their services, where their privacy information applies. You do not have to enable an embedded player to use an external listening link.
Cookies and your choices
Cookies are small files stored by your browser. Similar browser storage can also remember settings or support a service. Necessary storage supports functions you request, such as remembering a privacy choice; optional statistics and music players require your consent. Statistics and external media have separate settings.
Use the Privacy settings button to review or withdraw your choices. Refusing optional services keeps the players blocked. Withdrawing consent blocks their subsequent loading; reload the page after changing your choice to stop remaining activity from an already loaded player. Withdrawal does not undo information already sent or automatically erase cookies stored by another provider. You can remove those through your browser or the provider’s settings. Consent withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal.
Choices are stored in the browser you use, rather than applied to all your devices. Deleting site cookies or using another browser may cause the banner to appear again. Browser restrictions can also prevent a provider’s cookies even after you allow a player.
Consent storage used on this site
Complianz records your privacy choices with the following first-party cookies on dellie.org. They are used to remember and apply your choices, including a refusal; their names do not mean you have accepted the corresponding category. Their configured lifetime is up to one year, unless you remove them earlier or a later choice changes them.
| Cookie | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
| cmplz_banner-status | Remembers whether you have responded to the banner. | Up to 1 year |
| cmplz_consented_services | Stores service consent information used by the player blocker. | Up to 1 year |
| cmplz_functional | Remembers the necessary-storage category choice. | Up to 1 year |
| cmplz_preferences | Remembers the preferences category choice. | Up to 1 year |
| cmplz_statistics | Remembers the statistics category choice. | Up to 1 year |
| cmplz_marketing | Remembers the external-media/marketing category choice. | Up to 1 year |
| cmplz_policy_id | Records the version of the policy associated with your choice. | Up to 1 year |
WordPress may also use temporary hosting/security cookies and, when you use login or administration features, authentication, settings and usage-measurement cookies. Automattic identifies tk_ai as a cookie for its own service-usage analytics; its presence in a browser is not proof that you have allowed an embedded player. See Automattic’s cookie information for its purposes and controls.
Cookies and storage used by Spotify or SoundCloud after activation depend on the provider, your account, your choices and browser restrictions. Their policies linked above explain their categories, retention and controls. Existing provider cookies do not replace a consent choice on this website.
Comments and profiles
Where a page or post offers comments, your display name and comment may become public. Your email address is used for comment handling and is not displayed as part of the comment. WordPress may process technical details for moderation and spam prevention. If an avatar or Gravatar profile is shown, Automattic’s services can also process information to provide it.
We handle comments on the basis of our legitimate interest in maintaining discussion and preventing abuse. Published comments are generally kept while the relevant discussion remains available, unless removal is appropriate or required. You can contact us about removal. Where offered, saving your comment details in your browser is optional.
Service providers and sharing
The principal services are WordPress.com/Jetpack (Automattic) for hosting, technical operation, statistics, forms and related features; Titan for email; and Spotify or SoundCloud when you enable their players. Service providers and their authorised personnel or subprocessors may access information needed to provide those functions. Information may also be disclosed where required by law or necessary to establish or defend legal claims. We do not sell enquiry information or use it for unsolicited marketing.
Titan’s handling of email and service data is described in its Privacy Policy. Music providers’ own processing is described in their linked policies. Sending a message does not subscribe you to a mailing list.
International processing
These providers operate internationally, so information can be processed outside the European Economic Area, including through group companies or subprocessors. The protection available in another country can differ from that in the EEA.
Automattic describes European Commission-approved contractual safeguards for international transfers in its Privacy Policy. Titan’s published Data Processing Addendum includes Article 46 standard-clause provisions where applicable. Spotify describes transfers based on adequacy decisions or Standard Contractual Clauses, and SoundCloud describes Standard Contractual Clauses or another legally approved mechanism. These are the providers’ published explanations, not a claim that all information stays in Europe.
You can ask us at delano.tjon-a-njoek@dellie.org for information about the safeguards relevant to your information and how to obtain a copy. You can also use the privacy contacts in the providers’ policies.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances and legal basis, you can request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of your personal data. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests and withdraw consent where consent is used. These rights can be subject to legal exceptions.
Email delano.tjon-a-njoek@dellie.org to make a request. We normally respond within one month. If a lawful extension is needed for a complex request, we will explain this within that first month. We may ask for proportionate information to verify your identity; please do not send a copy of an identity document without being asked.
You can complain to the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, the Dutch supervisory authority, or another competent data-protection authority. You do not have to contact us first to make a complaint.
Automated decisions and updates
We do not use this website to make solely automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects on you. Automated spam filtering or technical security checks can affect whether a message is delivered; contact us directly by email if you believe a message was wrongly filtered.
We update this notice when our services or processing change. The date at the top identifies the latest revision.
